Ridge Venting

Stop heat & moisture damage before it starts

Ridge Venting

Ridge vents are passive ventilation systems installed at the peak of a roof to allow warm, moist air to escape the attic, which helps prevent moisture buildup, mold, and ice dams

How they work

  • Passive airflow: Ridge vents use natural air pressure and wind to draw hot air out from the peak of the roof, while cooler air is drawn into the attic through lower vents like soffit vents.
  • Moisture and temperature control: This continuous airflow prevents moisture buildup that can lead to rot and mold, and helps keep the attic temperature more consistent, reducing the formation of ice dams in winter.

Installation: Ridge vents are best installed by professionals during a new roof or roof replacement, who will cut a slit along the roof's peak and secure the vent before covering it with shingles

Cobra Ridge Runner - roof ridge vent designed to exhaust heat and moisture from an attic. It features a roll vent design with the performance of a baffled, rigid vent, making it easy to install while providing a low-profile

Lomanco Omni Roll- shingle-over ridge vent for a low-profile, blended appearance on a roof's peak It features omnidirectional external baffles, internal aerodynamic baffles for weather protection and airflow, and molded cut lines for one-foot intervals

Maintenance: Regular inspections are important to check for blockages or damage. Cleaning with a soft brush can remove dirt and debris, while repairs should be made promptly if cracks or holes are found

Benefits of Ridge Venting

  • Prevents Heat Buildup
  • Controls Moisture and Prevents Damage
  • Extends Roof Lifespan
  • Reduces Ice Dams

Not for all roofs: Ridge vents work best on sloped roofs with a continuous ridge line and are generally not suitable for flat roofs or complex hip roofs with limited ridge space.

Roofing FAQs – Answers You Can Trust

See some common questions and answers below, or call us at (315) 297-4084.

  • How do I know if I need a repair or full replacement?

If your roof is under 15–20 years old and damage is localized (a few missing shingles, small leak), repair is usually enough. Over 20 years, multiple leaks, curling shingles, or visible sagging → replacement is the smarter long-term investment.

  • Will a new roof lower my energy bills?

Yes! Proper attic ventilation + modern underlayment + cool-roof materials (white TPO, light-colored metal, or Energy Star shingles) can reduce cooling costs by 10–25%.

  • Do you offer financing?

Absolutely. We partner with multiple lenders — 0% interest plans up to 18 months and low-rate options up to 15 years available (subject to credit approval).

  • How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roofs are completed in 1–3 days. Commercial flat roofs usually 3–7 days depending on size and system.
