Material: GAF shingles are primarily fiberglass-reinforced asphalt shingles. They are made by coating a sturdy fiberglass mat with asphalt and ceramic-coated mineral granules for durability and water resistance.

Architectural Shingles: Also known as dimensional or laminated shingles, these are made of multiple layers fused together to provide a thicker, more three-dimensional "wood-shake" appearance (e.g., the best-selling Timberline HDZ and UHDZ lines).

  • Wind protection: GAF offers a "WindProven" limited wind warranty with no maximum wind speed limitation when installed with specific accessories.
  • Impact resistance: Some high-performance shingles, like the Timberline UHDZ®, are built with a high-strength fiberglass mat to achieve a UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistance rating.

Warranties: GAF provides various warranties, including a 50-year limited warranty for manufacturing defects, a 25-year limited warranty for algae protection, and a wind warranty.
